Township House

The Oxford Township Trustees Office

"The Township House"

6924 Brown Rd., Oxford OH

The Township House which, originally located at 115 West High Street in Oxford, was moved to the Pioneer Farm in 2007. The building is thought to have first been used as Joe Hayden’s gun shop when it was constructed sometime just after the Civil War. Joseph closed his shop and moved to Kansas in 1886. In 1890 the Township Trustees moved to this small structure and conducted township business in this location until 1960 at which time they moved to a new facility.
Since that time the structure served a number of small businesses such as the R&W Donut Shop, Sage and Spirit Natural Foods, Paulin Place Antiques, Spinout Records, a bead shop and an attorney’s office. The architectural style of the house is Italianate with characteristic ornate moldings, arched windows and doors and low-pitched roof. The Township House has been reconstructed at the Pioneer Farm for adaptive re-use as a heritage center for conveying the rich history of the area.
