Summer Programming

The Oxford Museum Association brings fun, free, educational activities to the community all summer long! Running from June through September The OMA will bring all the classic activities you love and more.


  • June 1st and 2nd: It's Your Churn: Help to churn fresh butter and try samples of what we've made! We'll also be baking bread in a cast iron in a dutch oven over a fire, weather permitting.
  • June 22nd and 23rd: Old Fashioned Laundry Day: A hands on event teaching how laundry was washed in the 19th and early 20th century, break out the lye soap and washboards!
  • June 29th and 30th: Frozen Frontiers: Learn about the history of ice cream, how it was made, help churn fresh ice cream, and try some. All for free!
  • July 6th and 7th: Pioneer Crafts: A crafting day at the Hueston Woods Pioneer Farm with candle dipping and pocket doll crafting, we have the supplies, you bring the creativity.
  • July 27th and 28th: Picture Yourself... in History! A weekend for photography at the Hueston Woods Pioneer Farm, use our reproduction clothing collections to dress up for your own photo opportunities with our historic buildings and objects.
  • August 3rd and 4th: Canvas Rug Painting: Design, paint, and decorate a canvas rug that you get to take home! Learn about the materials and patterns used to create these unique period crafts.
  • August 24th and 25th: Intern Event: Our interns get to devise and execute an educational history based program each year, keep watching for what they bring to the table this year.
